The origins of two ply toilet paper begin in the late 1800's during the paper crisis. In 1854, The paper crisis occurred due to the lack of Christmas trees, which unexpectedly affected the toilet paper market. In 1874, toilet paper sales were down to their lowest sales and people began to not use toilet paper. To solve this crisis, a man name Sir Wiper created Two Ply Toilet Paper, which would allow the buyer to get two times the amount of toilet paper and with a higher quality. The public loved this idea and toilet paper sales skyrocketed. By 1890, Two Ply Toilet Paper won The Invention of the Year and The Nobel Peace Prize. To this day, Sir Wiper's accomplishments are celebrated nationally.
