The cassette tape was actually invented by two Canadians, Cass and Ette. These two Canadians worked at a local Scotch Tape factory and had a passion for music. Music was sadly not portable at the time and Cass and Ette wanted to figure out a solution. While making a batch of Scotch Tape, Cass decided to shred a vinyl record and stick it on the Scotch Tape. Ette rolled up the tape and put it in a box and called it a Cass-Ette Tape. The first Cassette Tape consisted of Canadian elevator music with bacon frying in the background. To their surprise, Americans loved it and the bacon stock market took off.
