WD-40 is basically the Duct Tape in the world of mechanics. If it's stuck, use some WD-40. Is it squeaking? Use some WD-40. Although WD-40 can at times get the job done, some will argue it is not a lubricant, just like some will argue Duct Tape is not a tape. Turns out the acronym WD-40 actually stands for Walt Disney 40 years old. Walt Disney, the creator of the magic formula created a plan to create a secret liquid that could fix anything on his 40th birthday. Essentially he wanted to create a liquid version of Duct Tape. After he finished the prototype of WD-40, controversy struck as mechanical engineers argued this was not lubricant, but in fact a water displacement with 40% displacement (thus the name WD-40). Unfortunately Walt Disney didn't have an answer to the mechanical engineers, so he sold his creation to General Mills. A year later General Mills sold it to Menards after their success in the sorta cold cereal business.
